photo Mayonnaise in Paradise on Flickr. This was a special commission for a retiree from the Sauer Corporation - the God-blessed maker’s of Duke’s Mayonnaise. Little things like a count-down clock, a golf club, a cat smoking a cigar and drinking brandy, and other elements personalized the painting for the recipient. Lots of fun to paint!

photo So I haven’t been up on the tumblr in ferever! I am thinking that i might start a regular old wind-baggy blog about things i’m currently navel-gazing over. instead of a photo blog of all my paintings. but until then, here’s a pic of a couple paintings that were the front and back of a banner that hung in downtown Concord, NC, this spring. They were auctioned off to raise money for the Concord Downtown Development Corporation. It was kind of thrilling to see my artwork hanging off a light pole downtown. The top one is a portrait of the dude that owns “Lil’ Roberts,” which is a place that sells microbrews, wines, and art in downtown. Robert Burrage has a long beard as does his kitty effigy. The other is of Scott and Seth Avett as kitties. They are two members of the group Avett Brothers. I wish I could’ve painted the whole band as kitties, but my image needed to be pretty large so that it could be seen from the sidewalk. If I’d tried to paint four kitties, they’d all have to be smaller, and the painting wouldn’t read right. Lil’ Robert’s banner sold for $50! The Avett Kitties sold for $21. I got a big old suck off the humility hookah on that one. I thought this one girl at the auction had bid the $21, so I didn’t let my husband outbid her, because she was really cute and sweet and couldn’t afford much. But I was wrong and it ended up going to someone who could’ve paid more, I think. But good for him! He got lucky in my not-so-humble opinion. I guess my humility hookah-suck didn’t really do much to deflate my big fat feelings of self-worth. That’s probably OK, too.

photo Pot Pie Flower on Flickr. The dimensional grandeur of this aluminum casserole dish, as glued to the recycled thrift-store artwork, belies the simplicity of its subject matter, a simple daisy blooming in green grasses on a sunny, happy day, under a blue, blue sky.

This 6x9 inch colorful kitty is trippindicular, and yea, verily, even copasetic. All is right in his world. His psychedelic tie-dyed background colors give him the perfect platform for pondering peace, love and understanding. And the munchies. Enjoy a snack while you chill to your favorite new paintings. He even loves all the same music you do!
Update: This kitty has gone thru some changes as he got stuck to some other paintings after I was too hurriedly packing up a show the other night. When will I learn? I spent the afternoon painting over little blips and bloozies. I just made that word up and I don’t know what it means, but it’s not important. Anywho. I’ll try to post a picture of this kitty and his changes. He’s still cool, just different.

This bunny is not judging you; it’s simply listening, with an open face and caring, attentive ears. This bunny is asking, “And how did that make you feel?” This bunny is a painting by Beth Feeback of Concord, NC. It is 8x10 inches and is in vivid, happy colors to make you feel vivid and happy and colorful. Enjoy!
